B/C? Custom format is definitely the right option for applying custom formats, but I’m wondering if sometimes you might start from Number format before switching to Custom. Still, B seems more direct.

Eliminate A since Conditional Formatting is for rules, not number formats.

Maybe D is tempting since General is the default format, but it doesn’t let you customize numbers at all. Custom (B) really stands out as the only option for tailoring formats, so I’d rule out D here.

I agree B makes the most sense since it’s the only one explicitly for creating your own number formats. A and D don’t really handle numbers, and C is just basic presets. Anyone else think there’s a trick here?

Option B is definitely the way to go since it lets you set specific patterns for numbers. The other options don’t allow that level of customization at all.

B seems right since Conditional Formatting is for colors and rules, not formats. Number and General are too basic for customizing. Anyone know if Custom format handling changed much in newer Excel updates?

It’s B because Custom lets you create your own format, unlike Number or General which use preset styles. Conditional Formatting isn’t about number formats, so that’s out too.

Maybe D at first sounds like it could work since General is the default format, but it doesn’t let you customize numbers. A is for rules based on cell values, not number formats, and C just gives predefined number options. So yeah, B really is the one that lets you set your own custom number format.

It’s definitely B. You gotta go to the Custom format to set your own number style.
